Linden Comansa America > About Comansa

Comansa offers one of the widest ranges of modern Flat-Top Cranes in the world. Customers in 5 continents have bought more than 15,000 cranes over nearly 40 years!!!

HISTORY:
LINDEN COMANSA, originally known as "IMAUSA", commenced activities in the early 1960's, as jig and tool makers, supplying principally the larger sub-contractors to the then fast-growing automotive industry.

PRODUCTION:

 PRODUCTION METHODS:
Huge Transfer machines, CNC lathes and machining centres have replaced traditional machine tools in the LINDEN COMANSA workshops, to give higher productivity and precision in all machining processes.

TOTAL QUALITY: ISO 9001
After almost complete re-organization of internal structures and procedures, in accordance with ISO9001, LINDEN COMANSA has already finalised all external audits, and has been granted ISO 9001 Approval with Registration No. ER-0808/1997. In recognition of the progress made in this field by LINDEN COMANSA, Dragados & Construcciones, the largest civil engineering and construction contractor in Spain, and one of the largest in Europe, recently awarded to LINDEN COMANSA their First Prize for Total Quality. It was the only such prize granted to a machinery supplier.

SYSTEMS:
LINDEN COMANSA control systems are designed by the in-house research and development department and assembled in our own workshops, as practically all the mechanical components and the structure of the cranes. Safety cut-out and warning systems meet all European and American Standards. Switch-gear components used by LINDEN COMANSA include Télémécanique, ASEA, Siemens, Electromatic, etc. Slewing rings are supplied direct by Rothe-Erde.

MARKETS:
Up to present, LINDEN COMANSA has exported to over 40 countries in five continents, including Eastern Europe, Germany, France, UK, Portugal, Switzerland, the United States, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Hong Kong, the P.R.C., Taiwan, Algeria, Kuwait, Saudi- Arabia, Korea, Japan, the U.A.E., Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.

EMPLOYEES:
Between research and development, manufacturing, administration, sales and service, LINDEN COMANSA employs approximately 180 people.

The first cranes produced were simple, saddle-jib cranes, ideally suited to the building methods of that time and the first model soon grew into a range of cranes from 12-42 metre-tonnes capacity.

By the early 1970's development of LINDEN COMANSA saddle-jib cranes had already reached the 200 metre-tonne "barrier". This tendency has continued and LINDEN COMANSA has designed and built cranes exceeding 900 metre-tonnes, although present design and manufacturing facilities permit the development and production of even larger machines.

The particular advantages offered by the unique LINDEN 8000 Modular System crane made it a logical addition to the LINDEN COMANSA range offered to customers around the world and who, over the years, have purchased nearly 12,000 LINDEN COMANSA cranes, in addition to approx. 6,000 machines produced by LINDEN-ALIMAK in Sweden, before the acquisition of the world-wide manufacturing and selling rights of this unique modular system. Since that time, the ALL-NEW LINDEN COMANSA 1100 AND 2100 Modular System cranes have been developed by LINDEN COMANSA, along with the LC 500 Modular System “flat-top” design cranes from 35 to 56 m/tonne capacity, to complete one of the widest and most modern range of construction cranes currently available.

Welders are duly qualified and LINDEN COMANSA welding systems and installations have been fully approved by the German "SLV" organisation, to the highest standards. Fully automatic "Robot" welding systems are currently being incorporated into the LINDEN COMANSA production lines.

The strong industrial expansion in Spain during this period soon saw IMAUSA producing, in addition to progressively more sophisticated jigs and tools, machine tools, both for in-house and external use, together with pre-fabricated steel structures for industrial buildings.

The birth of the Spanish tourist industry - soon to become the world's largest, with its parallel demand for housing, schools, hospitals, etc., made IMAUSA'S entry into the crane market a logical, almost inevitable step.
